A Smart Bathtub For Small Spaces

When I first saw the Puj Baby bathtub, I felt like I was witnessing a giant leap forward for parent-kind. Bathing a new baby can be difficult. A newborn can’t sit up yet, so a bathtub where the baby can lay down is essential. If possible, it’s also easiest to bathe a baby at counter height so you don’t have to double over to reach him or her. But traditional baby baths have 3 irritating problems built in.

First, their long horizontal shapes take up a decent amount of space. Unless a home has a good-size bathroom counter, parents often find themselves giving their baby a bath in the kitchen — using the kitchen table or kitchen sink to hold the bathtub. Fine, but not great. Especially if someone’s trying to fix breakfast during baby’s bathtime.

Second, traditional baby tubs are challenging to store between baths. They’re awkward and big and there’s no good place to set them.

Third, assuming you have the bathtub on the kitchen table or bathroom counter, to fill it, you have to go back and forth between the tub and the faucet with some sort of pitcher. Not the end of the world, but not easy if you have a squirming baby in one arm while you attempt it.

If bathing is part of your baby’s daily schedule, it’s easy to start resenting the baby bathtub.

The Puj tub addresses all three of these concerns. It’s very lightweight and stores completely flat — so you can hang it on the back of the bathroom door, or slip it between the counter and the shower when it’s not in use. The soft, flexible material assembles in seconds (literally seconds!) with one hand. It fits in any standard bathroom sink, so it’s a great solution for small spaces and means you can keep bathtime in the bathroom. Plus, it sits directly under the faucet, which means you can fill it quickly without having to go back and forth between faucet and tub.

I had 5 babies before the Puj tub was invented and managed to keep them all clean, but I can’t say it was my favorite task. With baby number six, I’ve used the Puj bathtub and found bathtime to be a much more pleasant experience. I recommend a Puj tub to every new parent I meet. It’s a genius bit of design with a reasonable price tag.
